The Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center was built on the 8th floor of the A & B Wings at Grady Memorial Hospital. This project was awarded to Eckardt Electric Co. after we completed two phases of pricing, one for schematic drawings and then one based on construction drawings. It was a competitive bid environment but one where it was critical for the scope to be all inclusive. We were able to keep our estimate within the original budget while including premium time for a condensed schedule. The project consisted of renovating approximately Eighteen Thousand square feet of hospital space in the B-Wing along with some cosmetic upgrades in the A-Wing. New critical distribution was brought up from the Central Plant to meet the increased load requirements of the space. Twenty ICU type patient rooms were constructed along with necessary support space. Construction began in late Summer early Fall of 2009 and completed in early 2010. Approximately Sixteen Thousand Five Hundred man-hours were worked during this timeline.
